I was looking for an educational music present for a musician friend of mine who loved to play jazz. She'd always been interested in music and all its associated instruments in whatever genre she was exploring. Her passion was jazz guitar, so I wanted to buy her one of those fat gibson jazz guitars that the legends used to be seen with. Guitarists like, George Benson, Barney Kessel, Wes Montgomery, Django Rheinhardt and Charlie Christian. I thought it would be extra cool to give her the opportunity and learn free to play jazz guitar
I knew a jazz guitarist who could teach her to learn free to play jazz guitar. He knew all of jazz theory and he had studied all the jazz greats from Charlie Parker to Miles Davis to Allan Holdsworth to John Coltrane to George Benson. She was over the moon when I gave her the guitar and totally overwhelmed when I told her about lessons to learn free to play jazz guitar
She already had some books by Mickey Baker with jazz guitar instructions, chords and advanced melodic chromatic runs. I inspired her curiosity and she was very interested and keen to find out where this source was to learn free to play jazz guitar. So my gift was a good choice and it certainly went to a good home. I visited her after one month of jazz tuition and I was pleasantly surprised at how fast she was progressing towards sounding like a professional jazz guitarist. Maybe it wasn't Django Rheinhardt level, but she already was able to play me Misty and many Jazz Standards in chord melody form.
Jazz, Jazz Blues, Jazz Rock, Jazz Improvisation, Jazz Composition and Harmony, she was into the lot and practised for hours. She thanked me forever for opening the door to a professional jazz guitar tutor like John Mizarolli. To learn free to play jazz guitar was only possible because John was a very close friend and I had known him since he was 5 years old, so he helped me and her out which I appreciated. Good pro jazz guitar lessons in any city cost alot. She was playing and improvising using my guitar - somehow I got an extra buzz from that, almost as if it was me playing! I offered financial support so she could continue to learn free to play jazz guitar by helping with money for books and fares etc.... I also tried to contact people in the music business after I'd met a big band leader in my local music shop. He advised me to get her recorded in a professional recording studio when she was ready and also offered her an audition, which she passed, to be in his jazz band. The possibility to learn free to play jazz guitar arose for someone who was talented and dedicated to the music. I feel like a do gooder and thank god she is still gigging, writing, recording and teaching! By the way - she's now my wife!!
