In my Guitar Lessons I often ponder on what it
means to be a self-taught guitarist? You’ve discovered
How to Play the Guitar on your own with no help from a Guitar
Teacher, no Books, no Cds? Or simply, you've never attended
organized Guitar Lessons? If you really learned to play just by yourself, it would
mean you took the guitar in your hands and learnt how to use it from beginning
to end without any Guitar Lessons or advice from your family or friends.
This would be surprising as not many Guitarists got anywhere by not having anyone to help at all. How did they learn to construct chords, how come they know how to mimic the styles of your heroes? Guitar Lessons have been part of many Superstars History. For instance Joe Satriani teaching Steve Vai is a well known fact! No babies were born playing Johnny B Good - it had to be acquired somewhere! All guitar players were given some help at some point in their career.
Understanding how someone who comes
from a musical family, can say that they learned how to play
without any Guitar Lessons is easy. Professionals were around them
throughout their childhood showing them correct techniques
and demonstrating how to use an instrument and perform. They
absorbed by osmosis in a healthy musical environment. A musical spirit was in their genes, lifestyle and their blood.
The family
experience in those early years, were the best Guitar
Lessons possible. Guitar Lessons were a natural everyday occurence. But only a lucky few Guitarists have this destiny. Take Jimi Hendrix, it is rumoured that there is a tape of Wes Mongomery teaching him when he was just 10 years old! The outcome of that was utterly amazing. Be Lucky - John Mizarolli always hears his students saying " If only I'd started with you when I was younger! " Check these Guitar Lessons
