Letter concerning beginners concerns about the best Guitar Instruction

Guitar instruction is something I am looking for as I want to start to learn how to play the guitar seriously. I feel that without good professional guitar instruction my learning curve will be too difficult. Playing guitar has always been a big interest and ambition. You come well recommended and my girlfriend has already bought me a fantastic electric guitar. I played it yesterday and felt like a rock star as soon as I held it in my hands. Since that moment I have been very interested in researching what type of guitar instruction is useful on the net for a beginner like me.
