I am a guitar beginner and I still do not know any guitar techniques. I've got some books on learning and playing the guitar with related guitar techniques, but the text is very difficult to follow for somebody who is a novice. Direct input from the pages of a book to your fingers is much easier for a professional musician. I started first to look for help from my own family. My brother knows some guitar techniques as he had a band in high school, but he is very busy and works as account manager, very far away from our house.

He could teach me guitar techniques if he had the time. I would even be able to pay him for the lessons. I asked some musician friends to help me, but nobody has time for such a hobby. Guitar teaching does not interest them at all. I thought it would easy, just pick up a guitar and my hand would follow the melody and chords of my favorite songs. But without professional help to pass on the learning of guitar techniques, I'm not able to start my adventure of playing guitar. I think the best idea is to search the internet. Research all the Ads of people who can teach me professional guitar techniques.

The printed examples of guitar techniques online are ok, I think they're a good beginning. Guitar Tablature is quite amazing but it seems that Guitar Techniques have to be shown to me on a one to one basis. Then I can achieve finger freedom faster! As far as I understand the main guitar techniques are

1. Alternate Picking
2. Hammer Ons
3. Pull Offs
4. Slides
5. Bends
6. Tapping
7. Sweep
8. Harmonics
9. Tremelo
10. Chords
11. Scales
12. Arpeggios
13. Strumming
14. Finger Picking
15. Slide Guitar

Anyway, I've been recommended to John Mizarolli who is reputed to have taught over 25000 guitarists! That's enough proof for me - I'm sure I could pick up a few Guitar Techniques from him.
